Evening under the frangipani

Conflicts - prakash sitting at a job interview he wanted to appear confident but his sweat glands betrayed him. (pg. 47)
- Conflict with prakash junior commanders as he felt they had "interfered" (pg. 48)
- Elaine quoted a line from the movie tess, but orakash does not seem to remember and feels upset. (pg. 58)
- Elaine's mother is unfriendly tand sarcastic to prakash during dinner (pg. 59)[external conflict]
- prakash conflict with elaine because he said her father's hands were beetle like- also like it was refering to elaine (pg. 62)[external conflict]
- He felt he was of no use to the society and had no meaning in life without elaine (pg.64-65)[internal conflict]

Climax - Elaine fought with prakash because of not only because of his un-seriousness in 'that' situation they were in and he joked about her father's hands which look beetle like (pg.62)

Resolution - Ironic (pg.84) because elaine's reason for her break up was a lie, only she would know the reason why.

Characters:

Prakash - nervy (pg 47) during the job interview to the point of being forgetful.
- Competent (pg. 48) he was a platoon commander in the army.

Elaine's Dad - insect-lover (pg. 60) as he keeps a collection of them.
- non-judgemental (pg. 60) doesn't try to give prakash trouble.

Elaine's mother - judgemental (pg. 59) talks sarcastically to prakash
- status-conscious (pg 59) says that prakash drinks with his hands even when there are spoons.

Most interesting part of the story - the most interesting part of the story was when prakash went to elaine's house and they started to get intimate but then because of a little joke about insects elaine gets angry because of prakash's un-seriousness in that situation.
